Traditional Indian Beverages

Indian culture is famous not only for its food, but also for its traditional beverages. Every drink has its own story, and every sip evokes a memory. Lassi , Jaljeera , Aam Panna , and other traditional drinks are not only refreshing but also have immense health benefits. Today, we’ll talk about some of the drinks that are part of Indian culture and hold a special place in everyone’s life.
1. Lassi – Punjabi Guest Award

Lassi isn’t just a drink, it’s an ancient Punjabi tradition. Whenever I visited my grandmother’s house, she always had salty lassi ready for us. Lassi is a symbol of Punjabi hospitality, consumed on every special occasion.
Sweet Lassi:

Sweet lassi is made with yogurt and sugar , and sometimes mango or strawberries . This drink is very refreshing, especially on hot days. I still remember eating mango lassi at our family picnics. After one glass, you’d want more!
Salty Lassi:

Salty lassi is a little different, containing salt , cumin , and a little asafoetida . It’s perfect with spicy foods like parathas and samosas . For me, whenever we had a family get-together, salty lassi had its own special flavor.
2. Jaljeera – A Perfect Combination of Cold and Spice

Jaljeera has become an important part of my life during the summer months. It’s made with cumin , mint , lemon , and black salt , and it instantly refreshes you. Whenever there was a function at our house, a large jug of jaljeera was always available.

Jaljeera ke Benefits :
- Hydration : Jaljeera keeps you hydrated , especially when the body feels dehydrated in summer.
- Digestion : Drinking a glass of Jaljeera after eating food improves your digestive system.
- Energy Boost : Jaljeera gives you instant energy, which keeps you active throughout the day.
3. Aam Panna – Mango Cooler in Summer

Aam Panna is a must-have drink during the summer. It’s made with raw mango pulp , cumin , and mint . Summer can’t be truly enjoyed without a glass of Aam Panna . It also contains tamarind , which makes it tangy and refreshing.
4. Chaas – Digestive Drink

Chaas , or buttermilk , is a natural drink that settles your stomach during the summer. It’s made from yogurt and water , seasoned with cumin , coriander , and a little asafoetida . In my house, chaas was served after every lunch and kept the body cool.
5. Thandai – Festival Special Drink

Thandai is a special drink made for Holi or Makar Sankranti . It’s made with almonds , poppy seeds , saffron , and rose petals . Whenever we celebrated Holi , there was a large bowl of thandai , and we all enjoyed it together.
6. Coconut Water – Nature Ki Refreshment

Coconut water is a natural drink rich in electrolytes . Whenever I’m tired or need rehydration on a hot day, a coconut water does the trick.
